UrBackup Restore iso 2.4.2. does not launch GUI Desktop on boot

Using the following
UrBackup Restore Stick 2.4.2 (x64)

  1. I’ve tried multiple USB sticks and ports.
  2. Try launching the terminal as right click menu is available to create a folder and then open terminal to location. Terminal does not launch.
  3. Tried a different motherboard. Currently, X670E PC Lightning Asrock

Maybe try and older iso?

Based on the search results, here are a few suggestions to troubleshoot the UrBackup restore stick not working:

  1. Try using an older version of the restore ISO, like urbackup_restore-2.0.3-2-amd64.iso. A user reported this working when the newer one didn’t.

  2. Make sure the restore stick is booting in the proper UEFI/BIOS mode for your system. There was a post about adding UEFI support to the restore stick, so try toggling between UEFI and legacy boot modes.

  3. If the restore ISO doesn’t see all your UrBackup servers, there may be a network connectivity issue. Try manually configuring the network in the restore environment.

  4. For manual restore, you can boot a clean Linux system (VM, spare PC, etc), mount the backup disk, and use rsync to copy the files back. See this post for an outline of the process.

  5. If the automated restore isn’t working, you can always do a manual restore by booting the client from other media and accessing the UrBackup web interface to initiate the restore.

Let me know if any of those ideas help! If you’re still stuck, I would post more details about your client and server setup and the specific errors you are seeing.

  1. Older versions of the boot is don’t boot past the initial splash screen.
  2. Switching between UEFI and Legacy doesn’t seem to make a difference.

Occasionally, iso won’t boot with the latest.

In addition, here’s what it looks like when it does boot right before entering into the desktop environment.
