Nightly Cleanup Causes Incomplete Backups of Multiple Drives

Server Ubuntu 22
Client Windows

I am performing full and incremental image backups for both the C and D drives. The problem arises when I don’t closely monitor the backup server. It starts by automatically deleting only the older backups of the C drive, leaving the old backups of the D drive intact. As a result, the server ends up only backing up the C drive.

To resolve this, I have to manually delete the old backups of the D drive and initiate a new backup, which correctly backs up both drives (C and D). However, this doesn’t permanently fix the issue, as after a few weeks, it starts failing again and only backs up the C drive.

This problem occurs across multiple clients I manage, as many of my customers have the same configuration on their individual UrBackup servers.

As the log shows it doesn’t even start backupping D

When deciding to run backups it does not look at the current number of backups. So we might have to look at a reason why starting the backup of D fails.

The D backups don’t fail, they don’t even start.
@uroni, let me know if there’s anything I can do to help.
In all cases where this issue occurs, only the C backups are deleted. I’m not sure if this information might be useful to you.
This is the only common factor I’ve managed to identify as a ‘noob’ user.

Could you enable debug logging on the server and send/upload the debug log
( see Having problems with UrBackup? Please read before posting ).

Maybe that’ll have some hints as to why backup doesn’t start.
