Wouldn't let me post to the sticky: Testing Restores

Sorry about making a new thread but the forum wouldn’t let me post to the sticky about restoring. Something about only being allowed 3 posts per thread.

Here is what I was going to post:

Sorry for the long gap in between replies, things got crazy here. Anyway:

Tested restores of 2 separate Server 2008 boxes. Both restores failed. I spent quite some time trying to get them to come up to no avail. I was receiving a BSOD on boot for both devices with the 0x0000007B. This is an inaccessible boot device. From my digging I have discovered that this is due to the physical servers using RAID controllers. The restore setting did not use RAID controllers, which I believe is what is confusing the OS.

Both similar boxes:
Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard SP1
Intel Xeon X3440
8GB Ram
1TB HDD

Restore:
Xenserver virtual setup with dual vCPUs
1TB VHDD
2GB Ram

If I google for the error I get e.g. this info https://support.microsoft.com/kb/975453/en-us . This is exacly what the restore option does…

Maybe it is a completely missing driver. If you install the Xenserver PV drivers before the image backup. Does it work then?

I have tried numerous methods of “fixing” that were found by googling the error. None seem to work as of yet. Installing the drivers ahead of time was a suggestion by a buddy of mine but I have not had the time to do so. I also am not sure if I want to do that to a production machine. I will have to see if I have an old box with a RAID array around to install the server to then try the driver pre-install method.
