Using only image backups - a valid strategy?

Hi, I just want to get some opinions on a backup strategy that I want to use.

Seeing as the new v2.x now has the feature to do image backups based on the previous backup and not the last full (keeps the image sizes small), is it a valid strategy to not bother with file backups? I’m doing images weekly on the PC’s currently anyway.

My idea is to use daily incremental images and just mount the vds (i don’t use compressed vhd, freenas does the compression) if i need a file.

The only drawback i can see is the ease of use to restore a file via the web interface is gone.

Is this something you would recommend or are there issues that I am not thinking of?

I have 7 servers and I do a full image backup every weekend and incremental images all week. So everyday I’m doing a backup after 5 PM. I don’t do any extra file backups.

If you want to do it, and your fine with doing it that way, then more power to ya’.

Does Urbackup do change block tracking or does it need to calculate the differences every time the incremental image backups are run?

It reads in the whole drive, which is another reason you don’t want to perform them often.
