Hello,
I use urbackup Server on debian since two years. After I changed backup storage to btrfs, later to zfs.
I got always CRC errors and after some days operating zfs got degraded because too many CRC errors.
When I copy 10GB files to zfs no CRC errors at all. So I guess it is no Hardware problem and no OS problem.
How I can find the bug? Anyone experienced this problem?
When you “hand copy” 10gb to zfs - are you using SAME DATASET?
When you say “crc errors” - what is reporting crc errors? ZFS? urbackup? What is in system log (“ dmesg -T”) if crc errors in there…..are they same time as errors from zfs/urbackup?
Cut/paste SOME crc error messages. Maybe dmesg gives more details? Always same dataset? What devices/disks are in the dataset? Have you checked smartctl on devices?
These are some thoughts.
Also, version of debian, version of zfs?
You run “no problem” for 2 years. I would ask “what changed most recently?”.
Why change from btrfs to zfs?
Urbackup native install or via container (eg. docker).
What version of urbackup?
I am interested to know if you solve or want more help - reply and I will help (if I can). Usually 1-2 days.
