There was an error. Currently nothing can be backed up

Hi there,
First of all id like to thank you for your effort making this awesome software!

My UrServer are installed on a Windows 7 64 bit machine witch works gr8 with other clients but this client are having huge problems.

Once i press right click the urbackup icon and click status i get this message “There was an error. Currently nothing can be backed up.”
It seems to be backing up but taking very long time.
Client machine are a Windows server 2012 64 bit installation, and i got an exact same setup which works just fine.
I cant find where the error logs are located, if i knew i would have posted them here.

Also i got another question, if you dont mind?
Once my urserver backup disk are full, what are the options?

Thanks a lot in advance!

Can you post send the client-side (debug) logs. See here on how to put it in debug logging mode and where the logfiles are: http://www.urbackup.org/administration_manual.html#x1-710009.2

Having the same problem…and there doesn’t seem to be a solution anywhere.

Are your VSS and Intelligent Transfer services running automatically? Here the author should say what update the client depend on, but in my case after complete update of the server, including updates for other products, the error disappeared.

Also, on a x64 Server 2008, I installed the MSI client and it caused that error, removed and installed the exe file and all goes well. Have the feeling it might be somehow related to the revision of the Windows. What did you install, the exe or msi?

Sorry for the delay i dident notice that you answered the thread.

Looks to me like a empty database. I have kind of the same error in my server log
ERROR: Error preparing Query [SELECT tvalue FROM misc WHERE tkey=‘db_version’]: no such table: misc
And i would like to know if i can get urbackup to recreate the database tables for me.

The log i posted are the client log

Than my guess would be that the client db is damaged.

Is there a way of repairing it or?
The problem occurred the second after i installed the URbackup client.

I have currently no idea how to do that. U could try to reinstall Urbackup. Make sure u also remove the db files before reinstalling.

I am running in to the same error. On the client side, when I go to right-click the icon in the taskbar I get the message,

I tried uninstalling, verifying that the installation folder was gone, and reinstalling. Same error. Do you want the debug logs, or do you think you know what might be causing it?

The error message just says that the backend is unavailable. Without a debug log there is zero information about what the problem could be.

I just sent you a debug log.

Backup client is 1.4.9, running on Windows Server 2008R2.

Backup server is 1.4.9, running on Windows Server 2012R2.

Both the UrBackupClientBackend and UrBackupClientGUI are running. I have run in to this issue before, but UrBackup just ran anyway. This time, I have backups failing.

I upgraded and received the same error.
Then I downgraded to the previous versions I was using, and it worked again
Upgrade:
Server: Windows 7 - 64 bit to 1.4.10
Client: Windows 2003 (32 bit) to 1.4.9

Downgrade
Server: back to 1.4.7
Client: back to 1.4.2

So, it isn’t a corrupted database, but perhaps some setting file that can’t be read by the newer versions.

Hello ! I had the same problem but could solve. I have a server ( SERVER1 ) . This server was replaced , but the Urbackup continued using the same name ( SERVER1 ) . Strangely, the Urbackup stopped backing up, So As with you.

solution:

In Urbackup client open Settings> Client and changed the computer name to ( SERVER1 -NEW ) . Ready ! The Error Message stopped happen and how functions All returned .

I hope this helps .

Hello everyone. I actually had to create this account to reply to this thread

I had the same problem, and had to look for a solution. Then after a good nights sleep i remembered that 2012 R2 servers have some bugs using other accounts than the default administrator account on domain controllers.

Removing urbackup client from my admin account and reinstalling on the default administrator account seems to have fixed the problem for me. I work with several customer solutions and this all of them have had the same bug. Need elevation from other users to access stuff that the administrators of the domain should have access to.

Hope this helps anyone else as well

Using Server: 1.4.10 (ubuntu)
Using Client: 1.4.9 (Server 2012 R2 domaincontroller/fileserver)

Oh, almost forgot. This only seems to be an issue with new forests with 2012 R2 and not upgraded ones.
