Restoring an image on another server

I was just curious, i run urbackup server at home, and at my clients shop

I want to do a test restore on an image i took of my clients server at home,

I tried using the restore cd, but it only picks up my urbackup server and doesnt find the images, even if there in the urbackup directory.

I was wondering how i can go about mounting a vhdx into my server, i.e creating a virtual machine and using the vhdx as the drive

I tried already after uncompressing the drive but it didnt work

Theoretically it should work, though I have only tested this with a really old version of Virtual PC. Other methods are also mentioned in the FAQ (under “I want to extract a file from the image backups”).

If you have a incremental image backup you should make both the client and the parent available.
