Restore Windows Image using Restore CD

Hi all,

I am new in using Urbackup. I have installed urbackup server in Windows system. The Image backup of windows client is completed successfully. Now I tried to restore the image to another system using urbackup restore cd. It is showing the system name and allowing me to select the Image but when I select the Image it says “No hard disk found”. Can you please provide some information on how to restore the image using restore CD?

Thanks in advance.

If the hard disk is correctly connected (you see it in the BIOS), it seems like a driver issue.
What controller are you using? Is it supported in Debian?

Hi luca91,

I have installed Urbackup server in windows system. I have taken image backup of another windows system and it was success. Now I am trying to deploy the image to a VM within the same system whose image backup is taken.

It seems that the restore CD isn’t able to locate the virtual HDD.
What virtualization software are you using?

Hi Luca91,

I am using Virtual Box. Also tried CentOS KVM. The restore CD is able to search the system name, Image date and then … It says HDD not found.

That’s quite strange! I just used the CD on Virtualbox and it worked without issues…
Have you tried to copy the image on the client and mount it to see if it’s readable? (see “how to extract files from image” in https://www.urbackup.org/faq.html)
What are the sizes of the imaged HDD and of the new virtual HDD?

For what its worth, I used the Recovery image to recover an image to a new Hyper-V machine, as part of my review of URBackup and found that it worked great. Top marks even.

I tried to restore a computer image to xen6.5 made with UR Backup 2.05 server and client 2.05 restore iso2.01. After 58 minutes it stops restoring in the webinterface it says complete 43% and in linux console it says 8% but it will no compleate. Any ideas how to fix this problem?
