Restore on alternative hardware does not work with restore CD 1.1.1 WIP

Hy. i tried the restore form a very old computer(440 BX chipset) with window XP to a computer with a Intel 945g Chipset - the restore works- but the computer reboots with the following error
Bluescreen 0x0000007b

I then tried the script MergeIDE 3.0 from andysblog (version 3.0 is important) .
The script patched my Xp system - and i can boot the XP version successfully
Perhaps you can adapt something from the script
kind regards

Thanks for the hint. I’ll have a look if this helps with restores of Windows later than Windows XP. I don’t think it makes sense adding special logic for Windows XP.

While it is possible to replace the installed motherboard storage controller driver with a generic storage controller driver, i assume it will have implications on system that have software installed with license protection.

It seems the script handles both Standard IDE and AHCI interface, it may cause issues in raid enabled consumer DIY pcs with servers with raid setup.

Unfortunately the script is in dutch and google translation is not perfect.

Harry
