Restore fails due to timeout

Hi Martin!

I just found your program, and I love the concept! UrBackup is definitely the most complete open source imaging software out there with Windows compatibility. However, I tested it out on my machine, and it’s simply not working. Every time I try to restore, I get to 1% and then get a read timeout from the server down the hall, same subnet, and eventually, an error reading the size. What can I do?

I’m using the boot CD, by the way, latest versions of the server, client, and CD from the downloads page.

I was able to successfully restore the image by copying it from the server on to an external hard drive, then using the acronis true image home boot CD to restore the VHD file. This worked very well and gave me some hope!

I can’t promise anything, but since we were looking at a paid solution before, I will plead with my organization to donate what we can to the project when we implement it :D

Will you be able to help me? Do you need more information from me?

Thanks
Overkill

The restore cd logs to /root/restore_mode.txt . Can you post/send me the contents of that file? You can get to a shell via ctrl+alt+f2.

I won’t be able to do this until later in the week when I can be without the machine for a couple hours.

Thanks
Overkill

I’m having the same issue, but I’m unable to cd into the directory to check the logs without permission latest versions of the server and ISO.

What is the root password?

I find it kind of odd that the server doesn’t keep statistics and logs about restore.

It stalls consistently at 74%.

‘sudo su’ gets you into root. This should be documented as can vary based on distro and configuration.
