[request] Bootable Backup Media

Your Restore via bootable media works fantastically, this bootable solution would handy if it also had backup features, for systems like FREEBSD and LINUX Images for say firewalls or hypervisors, if the option were available.

Hence my request, since the BootCD server discovery works so well, why not add functionality to create an Image Backup.
I have several Opnsense and PFSense firewalls that could really benefit from such a backup. There are a lot of systems in fact that could benefit from such functionality. The advise is generally “clean install and restore config files you have backed up”, which is fine, but time consuming, labour intensive and prone to human error, whereas an image backup you know that you have will work most certainly on the same hardware and take a fraction of the time.

Hope you will consider this.
Kind regards,
Lee

BootCD server discovery? are you on about PXE? If you are then someone here did this, but it only works on older BIOS systems using LINUX PXE boot, it does not work on UEFI outside of the Linux PXE loaders. Linux PXE loaders have a bug in them thats never been fixed. iPXE doesnt work, we have tried for the past 3 months…
