For each question:
•It’s GPT partitioned. Can you post the output of fdisk -l /dev/sda (replace sda by your hard disk device; with any Linux e.g. the restore cd)
Disk /dev/sda : 250 gb
Device Boot Start End Id System
/dev/sda1 * 1 13 7 HPFS/NTFS
Warning: Partition 1 does not end on cylinder boundary
/dev/sda2 13 30139 7 HPFS/NTFS
Warning: Partition 2 does not end on cylinder boundary
/dev/sda3 30139 2104515 c FAT32 LBA
Warning: Partition 3 does not end on cylinder boundary
•Windows disk is not a primary disk (Should be visible in the output of fdisk -l
I presume is sda3
•Restore somehow fails. Can you try mounting the disk mkdir /media/test; mount /dev/sda2 /media/test ?
Yes, i mounted it

Sorry, don’t know what is not correct. If you can mount the windows volume in Linux the Windows CD should be at least able to find this volume.
The Windows volume should be /dev/sda2
, but I guess you could see the WINDOWS
folder when you mounted it?

During our tests we tried to restore an image to a new hard drive with lower capacity with no success even if the total size of the used data is less than the space available on the destination drive. If we use another hard drive with the same capacity it worked fine.
Is the software able to shrink the image size during the restore or we have to use at least the same capacity on the destination drive?

There is a bug in 1.1.2 if you have multiple disks. You could try http://sourceforge.net/projects/urbackup/files/Restore/1.2WIP/urbackup_restore_1.2WIP2.iso/download instead (Just uploaded).
It is not able to shrink images during restore, so you have to use the same capacity or greater.

OK, thanks… Probabily the problem depend to capacity disk! Is it possibile in the new realese to issue the shrink problems?
Thank you very much!

Would be possible but very difficult. I have an idea, but there is a reason for that only few imaging software can do it.
Sorry, i didn’t get it. Can you explain me again? Thank you in advance!
Bye

It is not possible in the near future.
