Possible to re-use old machine names for new backups?

Hi, if i remove a client called :”database” and want to re-add a new PC called “database”, is this possible? i cant seem to get the new PC to connect using a name UrBackup has already used (and fully removed in the clean up). I need to use “database2” or’ “databaseNEW”, something as long as its not an old name.

Is the name out of use for all time or is there a time period before that name can be used again?

Hi, this hasn’t been an issue for me…have had a few times when I have removed and re-added the same client, and also times when I have added a new client with the same [UrBackup] client name as a previous client..

Can imagine that it might have an issue with the same [UrBackup] client name if it’s being used concurrently, but it works for me if I’ve given it time for the retention/housekeeping to have cleared the first instance..

I’ve hit that problem just once and bypassed it by installing from the client specific installer generated by the server… no idea if that’s a good idea or a bad idea but it worked that one time.

Just scanned over possible causes for this in the code and did not find any.

Maybe if someone sends me database files, I’d find data that is not deleted on client removal?

Might look in to this, as ive always had this issue…. Where are the files located on the server? (i use the QNAP NAS app so its not hosted on a server i have east access to the back end.

Also is it possible to change the client name used in UrBackup as i have a few with “email2” where i couldnt use “email”, like to be able to change those.
