Please help me with POC to restore image in Vmware

Hi,

I’ve done a backup of a windows server 2012 with an image.

I’m trying to restore the image in vmware guest host.

To do that, I uncompress the image (sysvol and C: partition) and convert to vmdk. Then when I boot in my virtual guest it says me “Missing operating system”.

Do you know if I do the best method to restore the images?.

Use same as bare-metal, Bootable USB stick to restore image backups, for VM, boot the iso within the guest.
