Option to disable VSS per client?

Hi,

I am trying to set up a backup solution for a Windows server that doesn’t play well with VSS (Volume Shadow Copy Service). I have found previous forum posts referring to a hidden option to disable VSS. Is it possible to disable VSS only for certain clients and if so how would I do this please?

There is no such option, but it continues to backup without VSS if it cannot create a VSS snapshot.

Hi, i’ve got a Windows 7 Embedded client without VSS and the backup doesn’t continue in case of VSS error.

Log from the client:
2019-07-24 11:24:05: ERROR: backupcom->InitializeForBackup() failed. VSS error code VSS_E_UNEXPECTED
2019-07-24 11:24:05: ERROR: Indexing Windows components failed
2019-07-24 11:24:09: ERROR: Not found
2019-07-24 11:24:10: ERROR: Not found
2019-07-24 11:24:11: ERROR: backupcom->InitializeForBackup() failed. VSS error code VSS_E_UNEXPECTED
2019-07-24 11:24:11: ERROR: Creating shadowcopy of “C:” failed.
2019-07-24 11:24:11: ERROR: Creating shadow copy failed. See client log file for details.

Any idea to fix this issue? I would like to use urbackup without VSS on this client.

i’ve installed VSS and i’ve solved, for now :slight_smile:
