Offsite Manual Backups - Urbackup Permissions

Hey Everyone.

I would like to copy some full image backups once a week onto an extra hard drive to keep off-site.

It appears that UrBackup writes the files to the storage location using the user Urbackup. When I attempt to copy the files over, I get invalid permission errors (as expected).

Does the Urbackup user have a default password? I do not remember creating this user.

I actually had been doing this for a few weeks without any issues, but I updated our NAS and it seems like all the permissions broke with the new SMB version.

Just needed to add a local user to the “disk” group. Oversight on my part.

How it was working before; I have no idea.

For the record: The urbackup user is created using

adduser --system ...

Which does mean (depending on adduser) that it has no password.
