Installed last server beta version. Trying to store backups in a network share. The home page of the server tells that “The UrBackup Server must run as administrative user on Windows. Note: As of 2016-05-07 samba has not implemented the necessary functionality to support symbolic link creation from Windows.”
So, it’s impossible to store backups in network storage?
Do I have to switch to internet mode?
Internet mode is for backing up systems over the internet instead of/in addition to backing up systems on a LAN.
I’m no expert in NFS, but maybe it will handle symbolic links? If that doesn’t work, an iSCSI target probably would work.
Not sure how to use NFS under Windows Server… I’ll try with iSCSI instead! Thanks for the idea… I’ll write back as soon as possible after testing.
Ok, thanks for the idea… with iscsi the problem is solved… I hope there will be support for samba share again but in the meanwhile…
