• the dattobd driver installed on each client
• you must run the client installer and select dattobd when asked

you might also want to look into Rear or if you better want a centralized management maybe DRLM. also if you are backing up VM’s the question is if you cannot better use a tool / way to backup or snapshot the VM instead.
