Is anyone running UrBackup Server in a FreeNAS 11 Jail?

HI All,
I’m currently running Server 2.2.1 beta in a FreeNAS-9.10.2-U3 Jail and it’s working well.
I would like to use the new VM system in FreeNAS 11 but don’t want to upgrade if it’s going to cause issues with my backup server.

So, has anyone else ran UrBackup in a FreeNAS 11 Jail please?

Thanks!

If this version has the docker support there is also this: https://github.com/freenas/docker-images/tree/master/urbackup

I noticed it uses the Linux emulation. Idk if it is any good.

Thanks. I’ll take a look.

I took the plunge and upgraded to FreeNAS 11.
After a couple of failed updates and reboots it finally upgraded successfully.
I then went ahead and updated to Server 2.2.3 beta. This was about 15 hours ago.
I could initially sign in to the web interface and see the status page saying it was initialising.
But now I get the page header and footer with the spinning circle in the top right. I’m still waiting to sign in to the web interface. I’m not too worried yet as the nightly cleanup is now averaging several hours.
That said, I have 20+TB of backup data.

I’m tempted to restart the server process but not sure it will help.

Is it possible to see what’s happening via CLI ?

Thanks.

It should get up pretty much instantly…

I’ve just restarted the Jail and the backup server process.
It had been running for 18+ hours.

I ran it with debug mode and currently waiting the web interface.
Debug output is;
2017-07-25 12:28:34: Passive WAL checkpoint of urbackup/backup_server.db completed busy=0 checkpointed=74646 log=127493
2017-07-25 12:28:34: Syncing database urbackup/backup_server.db…
2017-07-25 12:28:35: Syncing wal file urbackup/backup_server.db-wal…
2017-07-25 12:28:35: Files WAL file urbackup/backup_server.db-wal greater than 100 MB. Doing full WAL checkpoint…
2017-07-25 12:28:57: InternetService: No available slots… starting new Worker

I refreshed the web browser and still waiting for sign in prompt. I assume a full WAL checkpoint takes a long time?
Further debug output is simply;
2017-07-25 12:44:07: Sending file “/usr/local/share/urbackup/www”
2017-07-25 12:44:07: Sending file: /usr/local/share/urbackup/www/index.htm
2017-07-25 12:44:07: Sending file: /usr/local/share/urbackup/www/index.htm done
2017-07-25 12:44:07: Sending file “/usr/local/share/urbackup/www/images/urbackup.png”
2017-07-25 12:44:07: Sending file: /usr/local/share/urbackup/www/images/urbackup.png
2017-07-25 12:44:07: Sending file: /usr/local/share/urbackup/www/images/urbackup.png done

I have to go out now. Will check back again soon.

Nope, it’s just 100MB of data that needs to be written. Should be plenty fast.

In that case I should probably be concerned.
The page loads the header and footer along with the spinning circle but it just keeps on spinning…
I’ve tried multiple browsers and computers. So it’s not a browser issue.
Another refresh and the same;
2017-07-25 12:50:27: HTTP: No available slots… starting new Worker
2017-07-25 12:50:27: Sending file “/usr/local/share/urbackup/www”
2017-07-25 12:50:27: Sending file: /usr/local/share/urbackup/www/index.htm
2017-07-25 12:50:27: Sending file: /usr/local/share/urbackup/www/index.htm done
2017-07-25 12:50:27: Sending file “/usr/local/share/urbackup/www/images/urbackup.png”
2017-07-25 12:50:27: Sending file: /usr/local/share/urbackup/www/images/urbackup.png
2017-07-25 12:50:27: Sending file: /usr/local/share/urbackup/www/images/urbackup.png done

The blue line (progress bar) never quite reaches the far right end.

I really do have to go out now. Will be back asap.

Thanks for your help.

I’ve just come back to find this;

Still no login prompt from the web interface.
Any clue what;s going on? Is it an SQL issue?

Thanks

EDIT: I just restarted the server process again and was able to log in to the admin account. I clicked on activities and then clicked show log. I attempted to go back to the status page but again it’s not fully loaded the page.
Here’s the output from the Show Log button. (Client names removed)
It’s also stopped.

ANOTHER EDIT: I just rebooted the FreeNAS Server and tried again.
Looks a little better although the version numbers in the following message are a little scary;
UrBackup is upgrading its internal database. This may take a while. The server is inaccessible and will not do any backups during this upgrade.
Current version: 0
Target version: 0

Still waiting…

I’m now getting debug messages as in the screenshot above. SQLITE Busy scrolling up the screen.
Is this normal?

Finally, after another restart of the backup server process, it finished updating the database and is now backing up as normal.

Thanks for the help.
