I have installed both the Linux and Windows Server versions " urbackup-server-1.1-1 " and I cannot seem to get my Remote Windows XP Computers to Backup to both Linux and Windows URBackup Servers
I have port forward port 55414 and 55415 to both Linux and Windows URBackup Servers
Have installed " Windows Client 1.1.1-1 " on a remote windows xp computer
Enabled " backup via internet "
Checked " Server Identity "
My Internet Server Name/IP = " myurbakup.dyndns.com "
Checked Internet Server Password = " PU2NYo9lev "
What else must i check for to get backup over the internet to work
I’m assuming you can see the web interface at http://myurbackup.dyndns.org:55414 . The client name must be the same on server and client as well.
Then you could put the UrBackup client into debug mode (change warn to debug in c:\program files\UrBackup\args.txt). UrBackup Client will then log info about it trying to connect to the server into C:\Program files\UrBackup\debug.log . UrBackup Server will do the same.
uroni thanks for your quick response much appreciated
YES i can browse to my urbackup web interface from the remote windows xp pro pc: http://myurbackup.dyndns.org:55414
So port forwarding is working correctly
I have changed the " warn " to " debug " in c:\program files\UrBackup\args.txt on the Remote Windows XP Client PC
I have NOT Done any changes on the Windows 7 URBACKUP Server Settings
THIS IS THE " debug.log " FILE INFO FROM THE REMOTE WINDOWS XP PC

This means it does not have a full backup to base the incremental backup on. The error message is kind of bad, sorry.
You should temporarily enable full backups over internet.
I’ll try and make an exception to that rule if there is no full backup at all.
uroni some questiions for you ( Sorry if this has been answered already )
I am trying to understand the following from the URBACKUP Web Server Side
Do Full File Backup Over Internet = ALL Files in Workstation/Server g: " c:*.* " and " d:*.* " etc.
Image Backup = Full Workstation/Server Image eg: " server.gho " ( as in a Symantec Ghost Image for example )
Incremental Backups = Only Backup Changed and New Files
The Client Side
Add Remove Backup Paths = Folders to Backup Exclusively
a. If I choose to use this option as well as the " Do Full File Backup Over Internet " does this mean that both the " C:*.* " and eg: " C:\My Documents " will be backed up.
b. Will this display as TWO Seperate Folders on the URBACKUP Server Backup Directory

I’m not sure I understand your question. Full file backup transfers all files, while incremental file backup only transfers changed blocks in files. It does create a complete replication of the folder you want to backup in both modes.
Client settings override server settings if both are set. So once you set a folder on the client the server setting is ignored.
Images backups are only of the volumes you specified.
well I am glad to say that my system (Tested both URBACKUP Server Linux ver URBackup-server-1.2 and Windows Server ver UrBackup-Server-1.2-1(x64) Editions) is WORKING!!
I now understand and must say that I am impressed with this product.
Thank you very much uroni for all you hard work on this.
What did you do to make it work? Im having the exact same problem here; i can access the web interface through 55414, but no way to start backuping from an outside system.
I also changed logging to debug mode, but it doesnt produce anything other than:
2013-09-12 10:26:25: WARNING: Upgrading…
2013-09-12 10:26:25: ERROR: Error preparing Query [SELECT tvalue FROM misc WHERE tkey=‘db_version’]: no such table: misc
2013-09-12 10:33:43: WARNING: Info not found at ‘c:’ - reindexing
which was the same as before the debug mode. I only get a “Could not start backup because no backup server was found” when i try to do any kind of backup from right clicking UrBackup icon in tray.
In the status tab i can select the outside-client and try to “start for selected”-“anything” but i always get a “starting backup failed”. This client was last seen at the time that i created it. It has a status OK, but IP is not showing and obviously its not online nor any backup statuses are “green”
