I’ve set up a ubuntu urbackup server with a large raid array. I also have a DS918 NAS and wish to back it up. Attempting to back up the NAS volume from any of the workstations on my network has failed. I can back up local drives but not the NAS volume. I’ve been trying to install a client on the DS918 to no avail. I tried downloading the uroni docker client image (latest) but it won’t start. Docker reports only that it stopped unexpectedly.
Has anyone successfully set up a urbackup client on a synology NAS. What is the procedure for this?
At least your synology supports docker. I’ve been looking into the native syno package: Package UrBackup Server for Synology DSM 5.2 | Olivian Daniel Tofan but what’s unclear to me is that this is a ‘server’ whilst I want to run it as a ‘client’.
I have a sense a server can act as a client too but not sure how to set this up…
All I’ve found have been urbackup server images. No clients. This isn’t what I want so it’s useless. I would never purchase another synology product. Far too limited. From now on I will build whatever server I need. The synology backup options are far too limited to be useful. I suspected there was no real solution for this.
To my understanding these .spk files are server+client but I haven’t been able to verify yet.
