Image Restore fails on newer Dell laptops

Hello uroni,

the image restore process failed on newer Dell laptops, because the process didn’t find the internal hard disk. In an other terminal I can see that the disk is available (/dev/sda or dmesg). But on another older laptop (Dell Latitude E6500) is the restore possible. We use the restore cd 1.1. The newer laptop is a Dell Latitude E6530 with Intel 7 Series Chipset Family SATA AHCI Controller and Samsung SSD SM841. What is the cause and what can I do?

Thanks in advance

As per https://wiki.debian.org/InstallingDebianOn/Dell/Latitude%20E6530%20(wheezy) it should detect the hard drives.

Could it be that the hard disk is GPT formatted (EFI)? (Which is currently not supported)

Hello uroni,

sorry for my late reply. We don’t use the EFI and the current partitions style is MBR. I tried again the restore procedure with the same problems. Can I try to restore the image in a terminal? How is the prefered command?

Thanks
steini

Weird, see here https://urbackup.atlassian.net/wiki/display/US/How+to+restore+via+command+line
