Image Backup suddenly won´t work. VSS?

Image Backup suddenly won´t function anymore, maybe something to do with VSS?
Reinstalled Client, Restarted Urbackup Server, Restarted Network Share for Backup, remove-unknown, cleanup, done everything. Disabled VSS service, enabled it again, reindexed hardrives, restarted, tried everything.

Also checked that before image backup “VSSadmin list writers” all in stable condition without any errors.

  1. Check VSS using VSS Doctor. Inspect Windows EventLog for VSS Errors/Warnings.
  2. Check that you have enough free disk space >20%.
  3. Clean VSS snapshots. Try to do it manually using vssadmin utility.
  4. If there is no problems with VSS try to reboot (complete with pending updates/software installation).
  5. Try to remove-inknown, repair-database on server and try to restart backup job.
  6. Ensures that there is no other backup software, it can be in conflict with urbackup.
  7. Check drives health Disk Info. Use checkdisk (in Disk Properties) and test partition for errors.
  8. Try partitioning software GParted/Acronis/Paragon or something else. It will show you if something wrong with partitions structure.

I see that you already tried something from this list, but let’s acknowledge that nothing is missing.

I am getting desperate.

Deleted shadow copies
deleted urbackup client software
restarted client pc

removed folder for client on backupdrive manually
stopped urbackupsrv, remove-unknown, cleanup, start urbackupsrv

checked vss status on client - everything stable
reindexed c and d drive again
installed urbackup client again

Started Image Backup, D: Drive is working,
Image of System Volume and ESP is working
C: drive is stuck

Tried Backup with Windows Server Backup - was no problem - working correctly

Checked with VSS Doctor - everything OK

Last thing i have not tried is repair-database on server.

Please don’t use CBT with the client at www.urbackup.org . You might run into issues like this one where the client is missing a fix for an issue already fixed in the client which has the cbt driver in the installer.

How can i disable CBT? Since i never now that i have enabled it.

I again reinstalled the client and made sure to download only from the local URBACKUP server the client package.

Thanks for the tip again, i finally knowledged that the server was in a different group with the CBT Setting ALL, i deleted all groups, changed the setting for CBT to none. Reinstalled clients, restarted client PC, now it is working again.
