I'm not understanding the backup file size/count

Hi.
So first, i did search for file size issues and read up on it but i’m still confused on some things.
I’m backing up my gaming pc and i only have a few directories worth saving.
In total, its a little over 4gb of data.

Here’s my confusion.
The server gui reports a size and it doesn’t match in file explorer

Backup 14.
Server gui says 4.25GB. File explorer says 4.3gb
Thats probably just the software rounding, thats fine.
But if i examine folders, there are missing files.
The downloads folder for example.
the file explorer reports that the backup folder has 33 files while the original has 36.
my interface folder for world of warcraft. original file count is 10917 but the backup is 10030. original file size is 523MB and the backup is 489.
I could understand smaller file size due to compression in the backup maybe, but how does it have almost 900 less files?
Is this possibly a ‘files in use’ issue even tho no errors were reported?

to add to it.
I did an incremental backup of the same directories and the web gui reports 3.4MB but file explorer says 1005.6mb

Why does it report such a huge difference?

Are there discrepancies if you download a zip from the server and extract its content? Maybe this is deduplication - its not clear what u are comparing.
