How do "Settings/General" and "Settings/Client Settings" Interact

Most (if not all) parameters relating to file backups are defined in two locations:

  • Settings/General/File Backups
  • Settings/Client Settings/File Backups

For example, the “Interval for full file backups” is defined in both locations. The settings can be different between the two locations. Can anyone explain how these two settings interact? I don’t believe that this is covered in the Server Administration Manual.

General are global, if you dont change anything in the CLIENT or GROUP settings, global is in effect, your notice a small HOUSE and PADLOCK next to the setting, if the HOUSE is on then you change something to override the global, if you press that and it changes to a PADLOCK then it removes that change and goes back to the global.
