Exclude file path with blanks don't work since upgrade from 2.4.xx to 2.5.xx

after upgrade to latest stable version on Ubuntu LTS 20.04.5, blanks in path name of exclude files do not work. They have worked on 2.4.xx without issues. Even placing the path in " " didn’t work either.
