Errors in Logs

Hi again, I’ve search the forum and www about my next inquiry, but didn’t not find an answer to this.
Therefore i hope for find any infos here.

Now to the cause of my post:
On all of my XP machines (i know, i should switch to something newer) i get the following log error in UrBackup: Writer MSDEWriter has failure state VSS_WS_STABLE with error VSS_E_WRITERERROR_NONRETRYABLE. UrBackup will continue with the backup but the associated data may not be consistent.

How to fix or or identify this error?

You can take a look at the system error log or wherever the application logs errors.
MSDEWriter belongs to Microsoft SQL Server?

Same error here, and also with XP (32 bits):

I have attempted to find any logs for the VSS service but struggling with this (believe i need to change some registery settings or install VSS SDK). Aparantly I can
find out more information my using vssadmin command straight after the problem occurs. I will try this tonight when the machine is not in use. Currently vssadmin shows no issues (but it has been 8 hours since last backup completed) I will do some more tests tonight. here is current vssadmin output showing everything ok…

C:\Documents and Settings\Brad>vssadmin list writers

I was initially thinking the VSS service may have failed due to disk errors or low on disk space but I basically ruled these out now.

Hi,

i have here the same problem… All of my XP Maschines got the VSS Error.

Are there any solutions?

Greetings
Marco
