Deleting backups - will it cause any index problems?

Hi,

first, thanks for providing an easy system for backups that is free for us to use!

I recently made some server config changes and would like to remove the full image, file & incremental backups that are stored on my server. basically, I’d like to wipe them all out and start over now that the new configs are in place. will this screw up any indexing or will it be refreshed when I do a full file backup?

Thanks,

Andrew

It will cope with it, though you might see some warnings.

Run this here to remove them to fix everything up after deleting them: http://www.urbackup.org/administration_manual.html#x1-8000010.4

thanks. I’ll give it a try tonight.

does that command show anything when it’s running? when I ran it inside the jail where urbackup is installed in freenas, it didn’t show anything.

Hi, I manually deleted the entire backup folder on the server, then ran: start_urbackup_server --remove_unknown

I’m not sure if it did anything or not. all of the old backups are showing the date and file size in the urbackup gui under clients>computer name. ideally I’d like to remove anything from the client>computer name log so that the statistics are calculated properly. any ideas?

thanks!

@uroni, any thoughts?
