I know this issue have been trashed but I still cannot connect to my network share.
I am trying to back up a couple of systems in the office and I want it stored on the network drive , I was getting an error 31 before,something about not having access to the share, I gave the local user rights as directed but still nothing. I created another share, this time I gave access to everyone and guest, needless to say, there is no password as everyone can connect to the share but now I am getting error code 58
The directory where UrBackup will save backups is inaccessible. Please fix that by modifying this folder in ‘Settings’ or by giving UrBackup rights to access this directory. (err_folder_not_found). The specified server cannot perform the requested operation. (code: 58)
I input backup storage path as; \ \newnas\urbackup
Note all workstation are in a workgroup. I need help with this, my manager is putting pressure on me
This might be a typo. but there’s a space between the first two backslashes.

besides that you should provide a bit more information.
What kind of Network storage? Windows server / samba, NFS, iscsi? NAS / Linux / BSD.
What Version of Urbackup? What does the logs say? (OS / Urbackup logs)

Do you speak about the “Settings -> Server -> Backup storage Path”?
If yes, that wont work. This has to be a drive letter (windows) / Path (Linux).
So you have to mount your Network storage in your OS (“mount” command in Linux - “connect network share” in Windows [if its a iscsi drive you have to use the Windows iscsi-initiator]) and fill in the local path to the mount.
This should do the trick.

The network storage is a NAS (Qnap) to be precise. The office network is basically windows 7 and windows 10 desktops and laptops. The version of urbackup is 2.0.38
When I say input i mean “Settings -> Server -> Backup storage Path”

i’m pretty certain that this wont work.
As far as i know, you cant put UNC paths in the “Backup Storage Path”
you have to mount it on OS level first.
i assume that your QNAP offers a regular samba share and your UrBackup Server is installed on a Windows machine.
you have to open your “explorer -> this pc -> mount network share” then put in your path, user and pass.
you now have the path mounted on a Drive Letter (E: for example).
Now you can set “Backup storage path” to “E:” and the Backup should work.

Why don’t you install UrBackup on QNAP directly? There is a good package linked from the download page. Windows file sharing from Windows won’t work because QNAP does not support symbolic link creation from Windows.
