Client Crash on Windows 10

Hello there,
I’ve been trying to set up a client with Urbackup, but the Service keeps crashing.
The debug.log shows this:

I disabled firewall, antivirus while testing but nothing seems to work.
The Tray icon shows “Can connect with backup server” but connection works fine on other clients.

The client has a Windows 10.

What version of UrBackup?

What edition of Windows? (x64 / x32)

What version of Windows 10? Up to date on patches?

Any errors in the Windows event log?

Any other app issues?

Heres more information:

UrBackup 2.4.12

Windows 10 x64 up to date

Event log its completely empty

Only urbackup is failling

What build number? (See: WINVER)

You could be running 21H1 or 2009.

My current is: Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.19043.1165]

BTW, UrBackup on the client side is up to v2.4.11, not v2.4.12.

As for the Windows Event log being completely empty, that is weird. There should absolutely be something in either the Application or System logs.

If your Windows Event Log is empty, that might indicate some other issue that you need to address first.

Are there no other errors in the Windows Event log besides these? For any app?

I haven’t seen a 32-bit install of Windows in a long time :slight_smile: … but I won’t try to say that this is the cause of the problem here. Not enough info to suggest that.

Are you only running Windows Defender? Or do you have some other anti-malware solution installed?

I would tell Windows Defender (and/or the other AV solution) to skip the C:\Program Files\UrBackup folder tree.

Hello there
I suggested the same, upgrading to 64bits, but that machine runs a specific software that is incompatible with 64bit version
That machine don’t use Windows Defender, but i will try to create exceptions for urbackup on the antivirus
I will post my results as soon as possible

i regret to inform that the antivirus is not the problem (ESSET AV).
Can it be because its a 32b windows?

I cannot say, as I have not run 32-bit Windows in a long time, and never with UrBackup.

Have you tried uninstalling the client and then reinstall?

I finally found the problem, the GUI crashes, i launched the “UrBackupClientBackend.exe” alone and it seems like its working fine

Hello there,

The solution: the instalation on visual c++ redistributable for visual studio was corrupted

I reinstalled vc_redist_x86 and its working again.
