Cannot backup Debian/Ubuntu Linux Client

Hey folks,

i am running a couple of Hetzner Cloud servers which I would like to backup(just files).
I tried different freshly installed VMs(Debian 12, Debian10, Ubuntu 20.04) and I never could backup up a client/server.

The backup server is in the same subnet.
I checked the connectivity, ports etc. Send TCP and UDP packets. It does work.

Anyone a clue?

I really like the solution, because it’s simple and lightweight!

Thanks guys!
Greetings

I’m in the same boat, client is added to server and active, path selected, but it does not want to initiate a backup (file backup). Nothing in the errorlog.

Hi all,
I have the same problem.
I also use Ubuntu Server 24.04.1 in the Hetzner Cloud. The backup server is a Windows 10, but it is located locally in the office. I can easily backup Windows Server in the cloud (file and image). The backup does not work on several Ubuntu servers (file and image). The client connect to the server but no backup is possible. I’ve spent several hours on the problem now, without success. The client was pulled once from the backup server and once from the website and the settings were made manually. All without success.
Can someone tell me what I’m doing wrong.
Thanks
Markus

Hi,
Does no one have a solution for this problem? I am the only one who wants to backup an Ubuntu server? I would like to get file backup and image backup running.
I am grateful for any help.
Thanks
Markus

Have you tried to point client with “urbackupclientctl set-settings” command?
and check INTERNET_ONLY parameter in /etc/default/urbackupclient.
