In light of some of my lab adventures of late. I did attempt to do a restore of the server machine. Booted up with the recovery CD, had a copy of the server image. The recovery CD asks me for the backup server location? Seems fair, however, the backup server is now booted to the restore CD. ??
Do you have a documented procedure for bare metal restore of the server machine? I can conceive a manner I might go about something like this, but my idea seems kludgy.
Indeed the backup server has to be running in order for you to be able to restore something easily.
Now if you know a little bit about Linux you can restore the image manually. You have to format the hard disk as it was before first before that though…
Then you can mount the drive where your backups are somewhere and restore it like this:
