Backup stuck at Indexing for file backup

As per title, for many clients the file backup gets stuck at Indexing. This issue appeared the same time as the issue of file backup getting stuck at 100% (solved by excluding the service UrBackupClientBackend.exe from BitDefender).

For some other clients it doesn’t even show an expected timer for indexing and clicking “Show log” returns nothing but the rotating disk.

Clients run on Windows, both 10 and 11 (both versions can have the same issue) and have BitDefender installed.

Any insight would be appreciated

I had a similar issue. I discovered I had some XFS filesystem errors and the drive had remounted RO. Check your syslog and dmesg.

I’ve been watching my backups closer. This weekend I had one of five machines get stuck. Sat at 100% for at least 8 to 12 hours. Then suddenly cleared itself and everything else whizzed through. Nothing of note in the logs.

I’m not sure if this is due to the 4TB HDD being down to a few hundred GB and therefore heavy fragmentation. Or some other random pause. I am planning to keep a closer eye on this setup over the next week. Everything is Win10 but some major changes have been happening in the office.
