Backup setting does't work on schedule

I set up the client for daily bakcup. but it does’t work. if i backup by manually,it will work too. what reason is it?

could you also share your Server Gui → General → Server Settings and your Server Gui → Client → Internet/Active client settings

As Tschak is trying to point out I think, this is probably due to the top-down flow to settings from …

[Level]
Server
|
Group
|
Client (in WebGUI, NOT on PC)
|
Client (software running on PC)

If you accidentally press one of those [Lock] or [Home] or [Pathway] or [Clipboard] icons on any setting, it will obey that setting instead of the one you intend. It takes a little bit of getting used to if you haven’t dealt with (for example) file inheritance / NTFS permissions. Anyhow, I have messed up a few times setting these up.

I try NOT to set ANYTHING on the client (software on PC) settings screen at all to avoid this.

In this way ALL settings are obeyed from the server side and things don’t go awry. In addition, I prohibit clients (software running on PC) from changing ANY settings.

For this go to Settings » Permissions » Uncheck ALL and don’t forget to SAVE :).

Hope this was helpful.

The setting “Backup window for full file level backup” set to “1-7/0-8” and see if that works.

some of these servers can backup on the schedule 。only three clients cann’t run.it is very strange. all of these clients with the same settings.

@ProfoundIT good point and for this it would helpfull to see the real client settings on the server GUI. I agree don’t do settings on the client software but I only forbit (deactivate)

  • Allow client-side changing of the directories to backup
  • Allow client-side changing of settings
  • Allow clients to configure components to backup

@free_yang
Server Gui → General → Server Settings looks good, but I want to see the Server Gui → Client → Internet/Active client settings (the real client settings of one of these client) and not the general Internet/active client settings. It seems you want do Internet but using a private network?

Press Client on the top and then select one of your mentioned client and then the Internet/active client settings please and send a screenshot please.

Not to make things more complicated, but if you are using a VPN between client and server, I would imagine that UrBackup would categorize this connection as a LOCAL client, so there’s that additional point to understand. You can easily tell what UrBackup thinks by viewing the “Status” screen. It will say something like “Connected to [Local]/[Internet] server”

If the client software thinks it’s connected locally, even though it’s not, it will of course use the settings contained within the “Local/passive client” settings instead of the Internet/active client settings.

All of these clients are in the local. they are even in the same VLAN.

Looks all good, next Idea would be to activate Debug Logging on Server and Client Site to see what’s going on. Have a look on the manual how to activate debug logging.

For example for Urbackup Server on Debian Linux edit:

/etc/default/urbackupsrv

logs are then in

/var/log/urbackup.log

For example for Urbackup Windows Client run:

C:\Program Files\UrBackup\enable_debug_logging.bat

logs are then in

C:\Program Files\UrBackup\debug.log

This is a dumb question, but one I have dealt with in the past …

Are these machines you are trying to backup … going to sleep maybe and are unreachable?

If they are backing up manually, but not automatically, then maybe somehow they are becoming unreachable in the interim.

What type of machines are you backing up? Windows? If so run “powercfg.cpl” and check your settings there. Make sure they look something like this …

Just a random thought, not saying this will work.

here’re these informations . i don’t know these means

this client’s OS is win2012 R2 64b.

Looks like there is a database issue at the server, so likely need one of the Devs to comment on this…

You also appear to have some issue with the format, as the last 2 lines say not GPT and yet you have an EFI system partition.

So what PC is this? the age? what version of Windows came with it? what version is ir running now?

one clent OS is win2012 r2, another clinent OS is win2016.

I assume its a single hard drive? please check the partition (MBR or GPT)?

what ist about the server debug logs?
