I’m sorry to resurrect this post after 5 years but nobody answered and I’m having the same problem but with a server installed inside a docker container.
Everything works fine, the windows client can connect to the server via a wired ethernet connection (not via internet), and i can manually initiate file backups without a problem.
However, the icon on the taskbar remains “RED” even when a connection to the server has been established and the files backups do not start automatically.
On another post it was suggested that the “RED” status could happen if image backups was disabled AND its backup intervals were still enabled. That is exactly my scenario and i will disable the intervals to see if that helps with the “RED” status.
But, is there something i should try to enable automatic file backups from my windows client?
Turns out that i was using my client PC at times outside the “backup window”. Urbackup was respecting that setting and was not performing scheduled backups outside of it.
I adjusted the “backup window” time to match the times i was using this client and now automatic backups are working as they should.
I hope this can help somebody else with a similar problem.
You might also find that you are best/better off setting the server to “force” the settings on the server to the client/s or group/s so you have it centralised…
Click on the “show details” and it should give the per type backup scheduling (times for full and incrementals, for both file and image jobs) mine are set as groups, even though most only have one client in each…
(Setting them up as groups makes it really simple for when a client system is replaced, or has another server of the same type added…exclusions and inclusions are set on the group, for example…)
Yeah, groups make it (IMHO) so much quicker/easier/simpler to deal with things…
There is barely any additional work to set up a group [literally just add a group, then add your client/s to the group] and then you have a “centralised” location for updating any changes like exclusions or backup window/s and allows a rapid add if you have a client get replaced or rebuilt…
One thread that I had a couple of screenshots of my original setup is here:
(Normally do my UrBackup admin and posting here from my mobile, hence the looooong screenshots…)
Oh, just remembered that you can also have alerting set for a group [same as on a per-client setting, but, well, centralised] and therefore you could configure on a per-team or per-custy grouping, and just add their client/s to the group…
Same goes for the archive (though not really something I have played with, aside from manually setting one for archive, before it was replaced/rebuilt) and pretty much anything each client can be set…
