Are incremental image backups really incremental?

Refering to a previous thread at Wording: incremental vs. differential

It seems that incremental image backups are really differential backups. Any incremental backups will be based off the last full backups and not last incremental.

Is this still true for version 1.48 onwards?

Yes.

There will be a setting for this in the next major version.

In settings you should name it “differential” not “incremental” IMO.
“Incremental” causes confusion.
