Any success using UNMASK to change Linux file backup permissions?

I have seen some hints at using “UNMASK” in a config file to modify file permissions but no actual reports of success. Has anyone done this? Which config file and where is it located?

Using urbackup server on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS

Thanks Todd K.

Dont you mean UMASK?
In any case, share some links to those hints you refer to pls.
Sounds like based on those “hints” you tried some things but came to the conclusion it doesnt work, without describing what it is you were trying to achieve, what it is you are doing or how you concluded it didnt work, im just very very curious to find out about this thing called UNMASK i have never heard of

Yes “UMASK”. Funny, every time I saw that my brain saw “UNMASK”.

So I tried adding UMASK=007 in /etc/default/urbackupsrvr. No joy.

I was trying to change the default permissions urbackup assigns to its backup files.
