I’m not yet seeing it, but is there a way to make it so only authorized systems join the UrBackup server and back up? I don’t want some enterprising user to install UrBackup client on a computer not accounted for, for backups, then have that system inject itself into the backup system when I’m not looking.
Any thoughts on how this might be accomplished?
You must add each new computer [client] to UR server first. Next, you download that client package you need [Win, iOS, Linux] and install on the client machine.
Well what setting do I set to prevent auto-joining though? Out of the box clients can auto-join. And while that is tasty in some situations, it is not tasty in all situations.
Also, I haven’t yet quite had luck adding computers to the UR server list. Is there a guide/docs I can follow for the correct steps? (I don’t think I saw that in the main docs)
Run it such that it only uses “internet” clients. See here how to do that: Support for encrypting backups
