First, I am new to UrBackup…. so please be gentle with me… LOL
I have a windows machine with lots of data. I want to backup various folders using different schedules. I have too much data to backup all at once.
I believe this is possible… I did read one thread that said I had to check a box that is non-existent on current version. I am hoping this new version has improved in this area…
Thanks.
Yes, you can do this. I do it myself.
The key is virtual sub clients.
There is a field in the client section for virtual sub clients.
Each name that you invent and place in that field will (after a few minutes) create another entry in the list of clients that you can then specify what and when.
Example
Client name “mypc”
Settings – pull down to mypc
Choose “client “ tab, last field named additional virtual sub client names
Add home|vdis
This creates 2 new clients both part of mypc.
Save.
After a while (probably log out and back after 5 mins) the settings pull down will include
“Mypc[home]” and “mypc[vdis]”
Each one behaves exactly like a client but specifically for the mypc client.
Change directories (folders) times etc.
Remember to exclude things so you don’t duplicate. Not that it hurts just that it’s a bit of a waste of space.
Lastly - square brackets are not permitted in ZFS servers so you can’t do virtual sub clients if your host urbackup server uses ZFS to store. It does work with btrfs which I would strongly recommend if you have a Linux urbackup server.
