Ubuntu UrBackup client and ext4 with dattobd?

Hello all.

  • Ubuntu Server 14.04
  • dattodb module active
  • Client and server both exist on the same machine

When viewing features on the Server client status page, my Ubuntu client shows the Image Backup Status as “Not Supported”.

Perhaps I’m ignorant, but shouldn’t I be able to make ext4 images? I did install the dattobd module after installing the UrBackup client. I’ve since restarted the machine and confirmed the dattodb module was enabled.

Do I need to make any configuration changes to dattobd? I read through the dattodb readme and didn’t see anything I thought I needed to do, but maybe there is.

Any help would be great! Thanks!

EDIT: I do not use LVM or btrfs.

Hi BruiserBrody,
As I understand it, image backups are only supported for Windows clients.

Glenn

Here it states UrBackup supports snapshots.

EDIT: Also stated here: "Image" backup of Linux And when installing the Linux client via this method the installer mentioned dattobd support. https://www.urbackup.org/download.html#linux_all_binary

That’s correct. Snapshots are used for shadow copies during file backups.
If you take another look at the links that you sent me it says just that.

Linux image backups would be nice to have.
Perhaps it will added in a future release.
