Two computers with same name caused problem

I am testing the package and I used VM as clients. Created a windows 10 VM, clone and change a little bit to generate another WIndows 10 Client. After that, Server started showing problem. It seems that the server is mixing the two clients.

My question: Can Server handle two clients with same computer name?

Was the urbackup client already installed when you cloned the VM ?
If the answer is yes then it’s no wonder the server is confused.
Uninstall the client on the clone and then create a new client via the web interface. Install the new client and see what happens…

Yes, it cannot handle to clients with the same name. You can also rename the clientname (such that it is different from the computername) on the client.

This might be due to the fact that client data were stored under computer name. Therefore if the names of the computers are the same, it will conflict with each other.

After this conflict in names, the server side had many problems with the “db” files and finally all client backups were confused and no further backup can be done correctly.

Will it be possible to have a way to differentiate computers with same name? or is it possible for Server to detect this and alert administrator before backup starts?

We have the same problem…
Two different users with same computer name… - and whitch VHD to restore (same name) ???
Please add the username to the backup folder or some other way to seperate filenames/folders/ClientID?

Is it possible to add the username to the client name like: Userxx_Clientxx

I was thinking that in addition to the computer name, it might a be solution that adds the MAC Address of the computer to the VHD name?
