Client UrBackup version: 2.1.16
Server UrBackup version: 2.2.11
OS: Windows Server 2016
My server does not have full backup, so I want to update the application on the client. So I’m asking will I lose my data and system settings in the end if I apply this update to my OS?
And I hope it can fix the full backup problem.
Ok great but how do you know that? what do you base it on?
My manager said to me: it’s already backing up, thats not a problem to not getting full backup for us and for now. Should I let this issue free for now? Or apply tihs update anyway? I’m uneasy right now you know
You can wait for other peoples in the forum to confirm.
Downgrading is slightly annoying to do.
Also dont get in conflict with your boss for that.
Maybe if you have a few client, try to run updates on a test client so that you fell more easy about it, then do it on that client as well.
One thing would be if you had cbt, you d need to make sure to get a cbt version when you update, but then i think it s writtent next to the version number that it s a cbt version.
(cbt is for faster windows disk image and is the only pay option you get)
Again, like orogor said above, it should be fine, but you should test. I’m also testing the update on one of my UrBackup servers, updating from 2.1.16 to 2.2.6. Haven’t found any problems on my end and have updated 8 clients so far (Windows Server 2008 R2 and Server 2016). But be sure to test it yourself, it’s always better to be safe than sorry…
I’m sorry I can’t give you a define yes or no. I could depend on many factors, that’s what testing is for… Then again, it’s backup software we’re talking about, you could always restore a copy of the server to a test network on different hardware, upgrade the Urbackup client and see if it back’s up properly to a test UrBackup server and everything else checks out
