"...directory... isinaccessible" on Debian install

Hi,

I’ve been having some trouble getting UrBackup to run, so I’ve just done a fresh Debian install (Squeeze, AMD64), then installed UrBackup (v0.25.1) to make sure that I’m in a clean environment.

Unfortunately, when I got to localhost:55414 I get the message:

I configured the backups to go to /home/backupdata (I’ve double checked), which is owned by urbackup:urbackup, and to which I have given 777 permissions.

service urbackup_srv status (as root) reveals “urbackup_srv is not running … failed!”
service urbackup_srv start or restart (as root) just returns to the command line, but this doesn’t improve things (status still shows not running.)

I’ve spent hours trying to work out why this is, and I can’t see the problem. A shame, as UrBackup looks ideal for me needs in a way that nothing else is! The right balance of power and simplicity. Can anyone give me a clue? I can’t be the first to have this problem, surely.

(I’m a generally experienced Linux person, but a bit less familiar with Debian than CentOS or Ubuntu).

Many thanks to anyone who can give me a clue!

Ben

I was going to report this as a bug as I had the same problem.

To fix it put a slash on the end of your path .e.g.:

/home/backupdata/

Oddly if you remove the slash afterwards it seems to have no issue with it.

Try it and if it works for you then uroni will hopefully add it to bugtracker.

Sorry it seems to have a return at the end of the backup folder path when you enter it via the packet manager. I will fix that. In the mean time you could go to settings and simply save them without changing anything. Then it should work.

Wow. Went in to settings, added a character then deleted it, then clicked save, and now the web ui isn’t complaining at me.

(Same issue still with the service, but I’m beginning to realise that isn’t important as that is for backup sources, which I expect to be Win7 - off to test that aspect now.)

That is what we in our office call a “1 bit problem” - you spend hours trying to overcome an issue, when all that you needed was the one bit of information you didn’t have…

Many thanks for taking the time to answer. Hopefully others searching the forum will now find this thread :)

Ben

I updated the debs because this is really a show stopper.

Hi,
I just want to tell you that I have the same troubles with Ubuntu 12.04.

Rights are correctly set on the backup folder (urbackup:urbackup with write access) .
I tried to change the path of backups and saving…

How can I find a solution ?
Thanks !

Sorry I did a mistake with rights management. All is ok now.
Thanks for this great UrBackup !
