Backups taking along time

Hello all and thanks for the great little gem of a program … i am thinking of switching from BackupPC to Urbackup as i really like the windows client, and setting up backuppc for a windows client is a real pain.

Using server 1.3.2 on an up to date Debian squeeze, and downloaded the windows 7 client ( my test client machine is 64bit ) from the web interface and reinstalled it since it was working this time.

Anyways my backups are taking a really long time on the client sometimes 7 hours … puzzling since nothing even needs to be backed up just an incremental on a small directory that has not changed. I hope this is not eating up my bandwidth as these are INTERNET backups and i have to pay for my bandwidth.

here are the client logs

Starting incremental file backup…
Indexing of “1-king” done. 22 filesystem lookups 0 db lookups and 0 db updates
Transferred 76.5703 KB - Average speed: 234.84 KBit/s
Time taken for backing up client t420s-1: 7h 46m 22s

Here are the server logs which seem alot more sensible however … the i am watching the yellow client icon right now and it has been at 0% for about an hour now.

PS let me know if i can give more infos

Hi,

can you tell me how many files there are in that folder? Because it seems the indexing takes that long. Do you have anything non-default enabled (like client side hash calculation)?
You could change “warn” to “debug” in C:\Program Files\UrBackup\args.txt and examine/post what it does most of the time by looking at debug.log

It is a small folder about 70MB with 121 files that do not change i do not believe i have enabled any special options i have tried attaching the debug file here without success so i have put it here

http://pastebin.com/50qyNCJh

It is repeatedly rereading the change journal of the partition. Can you post the output of

fsutil usn queryjournal C:

(Needs to be run as administrator) ?

C:\Windows\system32>fsutil usn queryjournal C:
Usn Journal ID : 0x01ced6477711ccdb
First Usn : 0x0000000ea13c0000
Next Usn : 0x0000000ea35ea350
Lowest Valid Usn : 0x0000000000000000
Max Usn : 0x7fffffffffff0000
Maximum Size : 0x0000000002000000
Allocation Delta : 0x0000000000400000

I have the same problem, backup take a long time :-(
I enable hash on client.
That i read in the manual: If checked the client calculates hashes for each file before the backups (only hashes of changed files are calculated). The file then does not have to be transfered if another client already transfered the same file.
So less Data will transfer over Internet.
